my paintings are mostly watercolors and acrylics. In college, i caught on to this notion of doing series of paintings, (which also plays into my interest in sequential art from years of reading comics) as you will see...
after a medievial art class i took, i got into the idea of doing interpretations of bible stories and characters in contemporary cullture (which for me, is hip hop...). after all, there is nothing culturally accurate about the paintings and sculptures of the medieval era (if you've never heard any discourse on the erroneous depictions of jesus and other important biblical characters in art and film, i won't bore you with it here....) the point of the peices is to help the people relate to the bible... see themselves in its stories and characters.
anyways, to that end, i got into painting these pieces as an endeavor not only to help others relate to the scripture and its characters, but to work out their relevance in my own life.
