i was born on march 22, 1973 in waco, tx. when i was about 4 years old, we moved to killeen. i lived there until december of 1993.
as a small child, i started reading comics and i knew i wanted to draw comics for a living as long as i can remember. how to get a job doing it always escaped me.
fear and laziness kept me from going to the joe kubert school (the most well-known school for comic artists, locatedin new jersey), so i did community college in killeen for a year and change. after that i went to the university of north texas, and got a bachelor of fine arts degree in painting and drawing. while in college i got serious about my spiritual life, had my first real heart-breaking, and met the guys i fondly refer to as the ghostWerks crew. in other words, college was good. alas, the millenium beckoned, so i graduated in 1999.
since college, i have floated from job to job. having experienced some modest success (and i DO mean "modest") in the art world, i find it hard to take "real" jobs very seriously. this is a fairly recent revelation, and it forced (and is forcing) me to kick my art carreer up a couple notches.
so many artists sit around in coffee shops, eating bagels and talking about doin something but never get to it. they are waiting for stan lee to look over their shoulder and spot a doodle on their napkin and say "excelsior, you have madd skills! wanna job?"

the good news is, i figured this out BEFORE i got married or had kids to support, or something!
my goal is to have a fully-functioning comic book company and/or carreer, a gallery painting carreer, and part ownership of some sort of brick-and-mortar business (like a coffee shop, video store, or a pizzaria...), with someone who is really into running it. all between now and 2013, if God is willing.
